Air Cadet League of Canada History

22 Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron was formed on 25 October 1941 and has operated uninterrupted since then.  Over the years we have been the top squadron in BC numerous times, not to mention most proficient in Western Canada and also the best in the Nation.

Our Squadron is one of 58 Squadrons in the province of British Columbia, and 444 Squadrons across Canada. This requires the combined efforts of Officers, Civilian Instructors and Air Cadet League members who volunteer their services at the national, provincial and local levels.  The Air Cadet League (of which the local sponsors - the parents of the Cadets - are members) and the Canadian Armed Forces work in close co-operation. Loosely defined, the military is responsible for the training and supply, while the League oversees public relations and administration. However in actual fact there is considerable overlapping.

We are grateful for the support that we receive from the Department of National Defense and the Air Cadet League. Without them we would not be able to offer our cadets a full program and the privilege of attending various summer programs or the gliding trips, which are such an integral part of the cadet organization.

We also appreciate the support from both the community at large and the Sponsoring Committee and the Westview Flying Club of Powell River.
